Lovable security scan vs Redproof: do you need both?
Facts about Lovable's security scan checked on
The short answer
If you build on Lovable, run its deep scan first: it is free and reviews your code. Redproof adds a developer who confirms every finding, works for any tool (Cursor, Bolt, Claude Code, Replit), and can fix what it finds for a fixed price.
Side by side
| Lovable's security scan | Redproof | |
|---|---|---|
| What it reads | Quick scan: database rules and dependencies, on every publish. Deep scan: all app code, on demand. | All the code in your repository or zip, plus your Supabase or Firebase rules. |
| Works for | Projects built in Lovable | Any stack: Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, v0 and hand-written code |
| Who checks the results | Automated (AI); fixes applied by the Lovable agent | Automated first pass, then a developer confirms every finding in paid reports |
| Report | Inside the Lovable project Security view | A private report link with a score, a database access table and a fix prompt per finding |
| Price (as of Oct 2026) | Both scans free; "try to fix all" uses 10 free fixes (each comes back 24 hours after use), then credits | Free score; $79 report checked by a developer; fixes from $990 at a fixed price |
| Done-for-you fixes | The Lovable agent fixes in the project | Optional fixed-price package by a developer |
Choose Lovable's security scan if
- Your app lives in Lovable and you want a free check on every publish.
- You are happy to let the Lovable agent apply fixes and review them yourself.
- You are still building and want quick feedback, not a launch review.
Choose Redproof if
- You are about to launch, take payments or store personal data, and want a person to confirm what is real.
- Your code is not only in Lovable: you export to GitHub, edit in Cursor or use other tools.
- You want a report you can share with a co-founder or investor, or someone to do the fixes.
Using both
Lovable says its tools cannot guarantee complete security and recommend a professional review for apps that handle sensitive data. A good order: fix what Lovable's deep scan finds, then run Redproof before launch so a developer checks what is left.
Questions
Is Lovable's security scan enough?
For a prototype, often yes. Lovable's own documentation says its scans do not replace a thorough security review, and recommends an extra professional review for apps handling sensitive data or critical functions.
Does Redproof work with Lovable projects?
Yes. Connect your Lovable project to GitHub and paste the repository link, or download the project as a zip and upload it.
Will Redproof find the same problems?
There is overlap on database rules and leaked keys. The difference is a developer confirming each finding and checking logic the way an attacker would, such as payments unlocked without paying or users promoting themselves to admin.
