Lovable app security checklist before launch

Updated

Is my Lovable app secure enough to launch?

Check six things before launch: every Supabase table has RLS with owner policies, no secret keys are in the front end or git, Edge Functions check who is calling, payments are confirmed only by verified webhooks, AI and email features have login and rate limits, and you have a privacy policy, backups and error monitoring.

Data access

  • RLS on every table in the public schema
  • No USING (true) on UPDATE or DELETE
  • Roles and plans not in user_metadata or user-editable columns
  • Private files in private storage buckets with signed URLs

Keys and secrets

  • No service role key, Stripe secret or AI key in front-end code
  • No secrets in VITE_ / NEXT_PUBLIC_ variables
  • .env with secrets never committed; rotate anything that was

Server functions

  • Every Edge Function or API route checks the user, a secret or a signature
  • Cron jobs require a secret header
  • Database functions with SECURITY DEFINER check the caller and set search_path

Payments and costs

  • Stripe webhooks verified
  • Prices looked up on the server
  • AI calls: login, per-user limit, max_tokens, spending limit
  • Email endpoints: CAPTCHA or login, fixed or validated recipients

Launch basics

  • Privacy policy and terms
  • Database backups switched on
  • Error monitoring
  • Password reset works
  • Security headers set in your hosting config

Questions

How long does this take?

With a scanner to find the problems, most small apps can be fixed in a day or two. Redproof gives you a free score and copy-paste fix prompts.

Can a checklist guarantee my app is secure?

No. It removes the common, serious problems automated attackers look for first.
